2010 Season Recap August 15, 2010
EAST LANSING, MI. - The 2010 season for Michigan State Men’s Lacrosse was one of the finest in the history of the team. The Spartans gained national attention in the lacrosse world by qualifying for the 16 team national tournament in Denver, Colorado for the first time ever. The team finished the season with a 10-5 record with nine games against top 20 teams, and was ranked the 8th best team in the MCLA. They traveled to Florida and Colorado to play against some of the best competition in the country. Michigan State finished second in the CCLA, losing only to rival and eventual national champion University of Michigan.
One of the highlights of the 2010 season was the Breast Cancer Fundraising game against Western Michigan. The team donated over $5,000 to the Ingham County Breast Care Center by selling T-shirts and jerseys supporting the cause, as well as donating the proceeds from the game. The contribution as well as the publicity brought to breast cancer awareness in the East Lansing area contributed to the purchase of a mammogram machine for the center. Three players received All- American Honors in 2010: Dean Hall (1st team) Matt Lacasse (2nd team) Pat Nemes (3rd Team)
The Spartans plan on building off of this year’s successes and contending for the National title once again in 2011, as well as continuing to build their reputation within the campus and local community.
