No. 13 Spartans Shoot Down no. 7 Oregon In Showdown

Michigan State rallies back against the Ducks after an 0-4 start.

March 23, 2010

EAST LANSING, MI. - A little over a week after the Spartans toppled top ranked Simon Fraser, Michigan State faced another nationally ranked team Monday against the no. 7 Oregon Ducks. After a sloppy start in the first half of the first quarter the Spartans found themselves found down four goals and scrambling to claw back into the game.

Not until the 1:53 mark in the first quarter did the Spartans notch their first score when sophomore attackmen Michael Baily fed sophomore Shane Jay-Garfein in the crease who buried a shot past Oregon goalie Nick Johnston. Michigan State finally appeared to have found an offensive rhythm after spotting the Ducks four goals in the opening quarter.

2010 season recap

2010  Season Recap

August 15, 2010

EAST LANSING, MI. -

The 2010 season for Michigan State Men’s Lacrosse was one of the finest in the history of the team. The Spartans gained national attention in the lacrosse world by qualifying for the 16 team national tournament in Denver, Colorado for the first time ever. The team finished the season with a 10-5 record with nine games against top 20 teams, and was ranked the 8th best team in the MCLA. They traveled to Florida and Colorado to play against some of the best competition in the country. Michigan State finished second in the CCLA, losing only to rival and eventual national champion University of Michigan.

One of the highlights of the 2010 season was the Breast Cancer Fundraising game against Western Michigan. The team donated over $5,000 to the Ingham County Breast Care Center by selling T-shirts and jerseys supporting the cause, as well as donating the proceeds from the game. The contribution as well as the publicity brought to breast cancer awareness in the East Lansing area contributed to the purchase of a mammogram machine for the center.

Three players received All- American Honors in 2010:

Dean Hall (1st team)

Matt Lacasse (2nd team)

Pat Nemes (3rd Team)

The Spartans plan on building off of this year’s successes and contending for the National title once again in 2011, as well as continuing to build their reputation within the campus and local community.
